Amelia Saavedra

Amelia Saavedra, devoted wife, mother and grandmother passed away on June 14, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ricardo "Sonny" Saavedra; sister Celia Ruiz and brother Roberto Rueda. She is survived by her children Richard Saavedra, (Susan) of Pittsburg, PA; Letty Saavedra of Charlotte, NC; and Noralisa "Cookie" Saavedra of El Paso and beloved Grandson Nicholas Saavedra. She is also survived by loyal companions Rocky and Smokey. Amelia retired from EPISD after 32yrs of service and was a proud graduate of Bowie HS. One of Mom's greatest attributes is that she was an excellent listener and was an "Honorary Mom" to several of her students and family friends who sought out her advice and gave her the opportunity to share her infinite "Motherly Wisdom". Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 17, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with recitation of the rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home- East on 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Santo Nino de Atocha Catholic Church 210 S. Clark. Interment will follow at 10:30 a.m. Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
