Ann Waller Grice

December 22, 1924 — September 29, 2017

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Ann Waller Grice. Ann passed away quietly in her home in El Paso, September 29, 2017. She was 92. Her humor and wit were with her until the end. Ann was preceded in death by her husband Charles R. (Dick) Grice. She is survived by children, Rick Grice (Debbie) of Colorado, Priscilla Rutherford (Lee) of Texas, Marion Broughton (Barrie) of Alberta and Gordon Grice with partner Mayra of Washington, grandsons, Charlie, Nathan, and Judson Grice and Drew, Chris, Noel, and Mark Broughton, and great grandchildren; Wyatt, Gavin, Sydney, Adri, and Connor Grice and Charlotte, Everett, Lucas, Adalyn and Dominic Broughton. Ann was born in El Paso on December 22, 1924 to H. W. (Dusty) Waller and Marion Dunn Waller. She graduated from El Paso High School and went on to get her degree in Journalism from Texas College of Mines (now UTEP). Ann was a member of the Delta, Delta, Delta sorority and was a Sun Princess in the 1945 Sun Carnival. Ann met her husband, Lt. Grice, soon after the beginning of WWII when he was in training to become a B-17 navigator in the US Army Air Corps. Theirs was a storybook courtship and romance so typical of that era. They were married on July 2, 1945 in El Paso. Ann and Dick spent time in Midland, Calgary, Denver, Houston. In 2004, they returned to El Paso to be under the loving care of their daughter, Priscilla and son in law Lee. A special thanks to her friends and caregivers Blanca Rios, Nancy Munoz, Brenda Akins, Eva Mendez, and Ellie Cortez. Thanks to Dr. Aboud, staff and CIMA Hospice. Memorial service will be held at the St. Clement Church of El Paso on Saturday, October 21 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ann’s name to The Salvation Army and the Red Cross for the benefit of the hurricane victims. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home West.
