Anna Elizabeth Bastraw passed away on March 20th while her beloved husband of 67 years Robert Bastraw was by her side, along with family and friends. Betty as we all called her was born on September 8, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. She lived a life dedicated to her Lord and family. Betty was a life time member of Skyline Baptist Church and then Chaparral Baptist Church. The Lord was everything to her and she lived her life in his teachings. Betty was married to Robert Bastraw. She had three children: Robert Carl Bastraw, who was waiting to bring his mother home; William Bastraw wife Linda; and daughter, Sheryl A. Henry boyfriend James Wallace; Granddaughters: Jessica Dierkes husband Alex, DaNell Henry, Leeza Bastraw partner Amber Kellogg-Bastraw, and her favorite grandson Daniel Henry and girlfriend Ashley Aguliar, 7 great grandchildren: Emma, Ella and Elizabeth Dierkes, Hannah Herrera, Jaedyn Morse, and Jeremy and Kaiden Kellogg-Bastraw; 7 brothers and sisters Raymond Carlberg, Bobby Carlberg, Ralph Carlberg, Ron Schnetger, sister Barbara Cubbage Husband JT. Brother John Carlberg and sister Carol Murphy whom were also there to bring sis home. Betty worked at White Sands Missile Range for over 35 years. Betty touched so many people, and was always there to help anyone. While Betty was ill Robert was with her every day, there love was a beautiful thing. Betty was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to so many. Betty will be missed so deeply but we are comforted to know that she is with her Lord and now is flying with the angels. We will be celebrating her life on Sunday, March 23rd 2014 from 4-7pm with a Prayer Service starting at 6pm at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will begin at 11:30am on Tuesday, March 25th 2014 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Betty would want you to give an offering at any church you chose or the NM Children’s Home in Portales, NM.
