Antonia Villa Cortez

Antonia “Toña” Cortez, born on June 13, 1931, was a devoted wife and beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother was called upon by our Heavenly Father. With her life~long partner of 65 years, Julian Cortez, by her side, she passed away peacefully on December 20, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents Gilberto and (Mama) Maria Villa, and has joined them in eternal rest. She was a devout servant of our Lord, Jesus Christ and a selfless individual who always put her needs last and filled our lives with guidance, laughter, love and peace. She is survived by her husband: Julian Cortez; brother: Juan Pedro Villa; four sons: Arturo (Christine), Julian Jr. (Tina), Hernando (Sylvia) and Fernando Cortez; and daughter Helen Lopez (Cruz);Seven grandchildren; Eight great-grandchildren. The Cortez Family would like to thank all the doctors and staff at Providence Memorial Hospital, Nurse Norma Jacobs, La Mariposa Hospice Care, and Fito (home/caregiver) for their assistance throughout her journey in her final days. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 from 4-9 pm at Sunset Funberal Home-East, with Vigil/Rosary at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 9 am Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Santo Niño de Atocha Church, 210 S. Clark. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
