Aubrey Ray “A” Bailey, 94, of El Paso, Texas passed away on December 24, 2013 in El Paso. “A” was born on August 31, 1919 in Van Buren, Arkansas. He came to El Paso in 1938 to join the army and received an honorable discharge as a Sargent in 1941. “A” later joined the United States Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Alabama during World War II and served in Vietnam in 1968-1969. He received an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1963 and from the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1979. He worked at the El Paso Electric Company for over 40 years and retired from the Electric Company in 1983. “A” loved his family, music, dancing, golf, cars, and playing the trombone. He is survived by his wife, Rilla Bailey of El Paso, his five daughters: Mary Thomas of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Shirley Bilancich of Corpus Christi, Texas, Dixie Huckabee, Jean Fraga, and Terry Godfrey all of Austin, Texas, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
