Audrey “Mucka” Hargraves
Audrey Ann Ferris Hargraves died on August 27, 2017 at University Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 13, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts to Kenneth John Ferris and Mary Nolden Ferris. After graduation from George Washington High School in Alexandria, VA, she attended Tuffs University in Boston, MA. In June 1952, she married James Campbell Hargraves.
In addition to raising a family of three sons and two daughters, she played a key role in rearing two granddaughters, Jamie Delgado and Lindsey Cobaugh of El Paso. She graduated from the University of Texas-El Paso, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971. A long time, active volunteer with Fort Bliss Army Community Service, she earned numerous awards, citations and has a conference room named in her honor.
She was preceded in death by son, Andrew Monroe Hargraves, and daughter, Mary Jane Cobaugh. She is survived by sons John (Ann) Hargraves of Waynesville, NC, Peter (Cathy) Hargraves of Mexico City, Mexico a daughter Ann (Peter) Sergienko of Portland, OR, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a niece, and many El Paso friends.
Memorial Service will be from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to the El Paso Humane Society. She will be interred in Chatham, Massachusetts with her mother, father, aunt and uncle.
