Beatriz (Maria Luisa) Orozco De La Torre entered into eternal rest on August 7th, 3 weeks shy of her 90th birthday. She was born in Crockett, California in 1927 to Lucio Orozco and Maria de la Paz Gomez, but because of their untimely deaths she and her sister were raised by their grandmother in Jalisco, Mexico. It was there that Beatriz developed her lifelong love of gardening, the outdoors, and the simple ranch life and it was there that she met and married Leopoldo De La Torre, her one true love. In 1952 the couple returned to the United States and settled in El Paso where they raised their growing family.
Beatriz was a dedicated homemaker who devoted herself to her children and always put their needs ahead of her own. She asked little for herself, but she took great joy in her daily recitation of the rosary, her gardening, and cooking for her loved ones. She was never too tired to tend to her flowers or to cook a delicious meal for friends and family.
Beatriz is preceded in death by her daughter Consuelo Montes, her son Raul, and her husband Leopoldo De La Torre. She is survived by her sister Esperanza, her sons Jose Luis (Ann), Jorge (Lili), Leo (Donna), her daughters Yolanda and Martha, as well as 15 grandchildren and 12 great grand children. She inspired them all with her kindness, self-sacrifice, and devotion to family and she leaves an enduring legacy in her example of a life of simplicity and selflessness.
