Benito “Benny” Rosales Jr., 74 passed away at home in EL Paso, TX on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Born July 7, 1939, in Smelter Town, TX to Aurora and Benito Rosales Sr. Benny was a dedicated son, husband, brother, father, grandpa, soldier, teacher and friend. Benny proudly served the U.S. Army, Airborne division, and later served in the U.S. Reserves. On January 8, 1966 he married his beautiful bride of 48 years, Mary Lou Escandon. Benny received his teaching certification from A&M University. He taught Culinary Arts at David L. Carrasco Job Corps and for the El Paso CC. Teaching his students’ the art of cooking for 35+ years was his passion, working hard for his family was his life. Benny, aka “Cheetah” was an avid golfer and loved his friends at Ascarate G.C. Survivors include his mother; Aurora Rosales, wife; Mary Lou Rosales, sons; Ricardo Escandon of Panama City, Panama and Tommy Rosales of Frisco, TX, daughters; Kathy Chavez and Susan Gonzalez both of EL Paso, TX. Brothers; Ramon Rosales, Roberto Rosales, sisters; Velia Poblano, Alicia Contreras, Olga Blanco† and Yolanda Calderon; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Visitation: 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Vigil: 6:30 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home- Americas. Mass: 8:00 a.m., Friday, February 7, 2014 at Little Flower Catholic Church, 171 Polo Inn. Interment: 9:30 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
