Elizabeth "Betsy" Hoover Miller died peacefully on March 21, 2018, in El Paso, Texas. Betsy was the daughter of Robert T. Hoover, Jr. and Elizabeth "Betty" Young Taber and stepdaughter of Sandra Schwartz Hoover. Born in El Paso on May 31, 1947, Betsy attended Mesita and Radford School and graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Betsy was an avid traveler, studying in Madrid, Spain while in college and flying for Pan Am for several years after graduation. She shared her love of travel, art, culture and food with her family and with her devoted husband of 23 years, William "Bill" Miller, M.D.
Betsy is survived by her husband, her mother and stepmother, her children, Doak Sergent and Holland Kastrin, and five grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers (Robert, Doak, and David), two sisters (Ruth and Erin), two aunts (Louann and Mary), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She also will be remembered with love by all of her wonderful friends, near and far.
Betsy was a perennial champion of the displaced and underserved, working for them at the Child Crisis Center and Alzheimer's Association, and was passionate about her El Paso community, serving through Rotary, the Pan-American Roundtable and the Junior League, among others.
Services will be held at St. Francis on the Hill Episcopal Church on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association of El Paso, 110 Mesa Park Dr. #250, El Paso, Texas 79912.
