Billie Rose McConnell

June 16, 1934 — June 10, 2014

Billie Rose McConnell, age 79, founding member of Highland Presbyterian Church and member of the Women’s Club of El Paso, departed this life to be with the LORD on June 10, 2104. Billie was born in Louisville, KY in 1934 and moved to El Paso where she graduated from El Paso High School and married Thomas Francis McConnell Jr. She worked for Dr. Perry Rodgers for many years before moving to WBAMC Hospital at Fort Bliss and retired as the Secretary to the Chief of OB/GYN. As a committed, caring church member for 55 years, she is remembered for her devotion to those less fortunate and her service on numerous charitable committees including crafting for the Presbyterian Woman’s Group, the Meals on Wheels program and the Food Cupboard and provided her wonderful voice to the Church Choir for many years. She also served as the Treasurer for National Active and Retired Federal Employees. She was preceded in life by her husband T.F. McConnell Jr. and her daughter Patricia Uphoff. She leaves behind her son Thomas McConnell III and daughter Perri Parkman as well as her grandchildren Lauren and Kimberly McConnell, James and Jonathan Uphoff as well as Alison and Andrea Haddad and Maconnell Parkman. Visitation will occur on Monday, June 16 at 5:00 PM with a Prayer Service following at 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 17 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Grace Presbyterian Church. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
