Carlos Santoscoy, 98, passed away peacefully at his home in El Paso, Texas on December 27, 2014. He was born January 7, 1916 in Chihuahua Mexico and was brought to El Paso in 1919. He was the son of Tomas and Ernestina Santoscoy.
Carlos began his career selling newspapers on the corner streets of downtown El Paso. He worked as a printer for the Hobbs Newspaper, Las Cruces News, El Continental in Juarez, Mexico and for over 30 years at The El Paso Times – Herald Post retiring in 1985.
He loved his family and his passion was fishing. His friend, Frank Silva, and his brothers had many wonderful trips together fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents Tomas and Ernestina Santoscoy, his late wife Genevieve, his brothers and sisters Luciano, Salvador, Robert, Delores, Helen, Ernesto and Margaret Santoscoy. His nephews Rene Lopez, Rudy Lopez and James Santoscoy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dora Santoscoy, sons Carlos Santoscoy Jr, M.D., David Santoscoy, Thomas Santoscoy, M.D., and stepson Albert Cunes; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
Visitation will be from 4--9 pm. Vigil-Rosary will be held at 7:30 pm, Tuesday December 30, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home 750 N. Carolina Street. Mass will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday Jan 2, 2015 at All Saints Church, 1415 Dakota Street. Burial will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery on 12400 Montana Avenue. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Santoscoy, Cesar Sierra, Ernest Santoscoy, Christopher Santoscoy, Daniel Santoscoy and Carlos Santoscoy.
