Carolyn Ponsford

February 25, 1931 — July 17, 2014

Carolyn Gay Ponsford passed away peacefully on July 17, 2014 at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her parents John Will and Maurine Gay, her husband John Ponsford and her son Jack Ponsford. She will be dearly missed by her brother John Gay (Martha), her son, Rick Ponsford (Andi), daughter Leigh Lovelady (Stuart), daughter-in-law Caroline Ponsford, and grandchildren Emily Goforth (Matt), Julie Ellis (Jared), Will Sessions, Ginny Siller (Matt), Cameron Ponsford, Tricia Chinnici (Mike), Mitchell Ponsford (Rachel), Jenna Scott (Dave), and great-grandchildren Olivia and Henry Ellis, Jack Goforth, and Clara Scott. She lived her life with a southern style and grace that is rarely seen anymore. She loved her family, friends, and traveling. Always an optimist she refused to have her life interrupted by anything negative. Volunteer work was always important to her. She worked for the Cancer Treatment Center, the Salvation Army, and the Junior League of El Paso. She had her pilot’s license and enjoyed flying with John. She retired as a real estate broker. Generations of friends and family will miss her love and support. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Salvation Army, PO Box 10756 El Paso, TX 79995, The El Paso Museum of Art, One Arts Festival Plaza, El Paso, TX 79901 or a charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Church of Saint Clement, 810 North Cambell.
