C.D. Wilborn

June 1, 1922 — November 20, 2013

C.D. Wilborn, Sr. was born June 1, 1922 in Marlin, Texas to Alex II and Sallie Wilborn. He was the third child born to this union. Upon moving to El Paso, Texas, he united in matrimony in 1949 with Johnnie Mae Butler. To this union 2 children were born. C.D. served in the U.S. Army. Once his military service was completed he continued his career as the Chief Supervisor of food service at William Beaumont Army Hospital for 30 years. After his retirement, he dedicated his time to protect and serve his community, as a security gaurd at Montwood Mall for many years. C.D. accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. He continued to give God his service as a dedicated Usher for over 68 years. He not only serviced his church, he serviced the community, providing his daily service to the elderly and shut in escorting them to doctors appointments and assisting with daily tasks. He truly enjoyed helping others. C.D. Wilborn adored his family. He would love to see them happy and smiling. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and 1 sister. He leaves to live his legacy, his beloved baby sister, Annie Threatt; one son, C.D. Wilborn Jr (Kearn); one daughter, Benera Matlock; six grandchildren: Walter J. Wilborn, Angela D. Wilborn ( Atlanta Ga), Jamal Wilborn, Sharday Brown, Shainta N. Tiller and Tracy Orozco; 11 great grandchildren: Nicholas Wilborn, Jessica Wilborn, Michael Wilborn, Elijah Wilborn, Dylan Wilborn, Shannaya Tiller, Jalaya Tiller, Ashley Ybarra, Anthony Ybarra, Alex Orozco and Abel Orozco; one god-daughter, Sharon Jordan and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. A Funeral Service will be said at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East, El Paso, TX.
