Beloved Celia R. Diaz — “Nana” to her grandchildren and “Lindora” to her husband Ret. Col. U.S.A. Medical Corp. Fernando Diaz-Ball — passed away July 5, 2015. Celia was the daughter of Catalina Muxo and Osvaldo Ramirez-Torres, born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on Nov. 4, 1934. Celia and Fernando married on June 6, 1959 in Puerto Rico before moving to the U.S. They arrived to El Paso in 1971 returning from Vietnam duty, remaining in El Paso over 44 years. Celia was creative, spirited and dearly adored by Fernando. They celebrated 56 years of marriage. He stayed by her side every night for the past several years. She passed away in her daughter, Maricel Diaz’s, arms with Fernando by her side early morning last Sunday. She was a woman of many talents. She studied medicine, trained flower designer and painter, and was the best party planner. Celia loved to dance, sing and be surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her husband Fernando, daughter Maricel and her three children: Vicky Diaz-Camacho, Felicia Diaz and Cassidy Montoya (and her children); her son Fernando, his wife Suzie and their children: Anneliese Eaken, Tony Diaz, and Ashelyn and Stephen Tice with Dominic their son. Memorial Service will begin at 12 noon on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Gathering will follow at 3314 Craigo Ave. Interment is Private.
