Clarence Russell Barton, Jr. 85, of El Paso passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015 after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held in El Paso at Life Church on Monday, June 1, 2015 @10:00 a.m. Memorial services will be held in Lubbock, TX at the Combest Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 10:00am.
Clarence was born October 27, 1929 in Lubbock, to the late Clarence Russell Sr. and Daisie Royalty Barton. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1947 and Texas Tech University in 1953 with a degree in Business Management. He was a member of the Silver Key/Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He served our country in the United States Army, in Fort Gordon, GA and was discharged in 1955.
Clarence grew up in Lubbock; married the late Barbara Ann Martin in 1953, and raised his children there. He moved to Irving in 1976 and married Rosemarie O’Leary December 29, 1976. After a long career in the bonding/insurance business, he retired in 1994 and moved to El Paso in 1999, where he worked with Desert View Homes for several years. He loved bird hunting, playing golf and watching football – a lifetime Texas Tech and Dallas Cowboys fan.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie; son, Gary and wife Lynn of Amarillo; daughter, Debbie Green of Wolfforth; children-by-marriage: Randy O’Leary and wife Andi; Kelly O’Leary and wife Candi; Dan O’Leary and wife Sammi – all of El Paso; Kathy O’Leary Murray and husband Robert of Fredericksburg, TX; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He has a brother, Don Barton, and wife Brenda of Irving, and a brother-by-marriage, Mike Gibson, and wife Melinda of Keller.
