Archuleta, Daniel, 48, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014. As a young boy, Dan joined the Boy Scouts and became and became an Eagle Scout and was an Assistant Scout Master. He was also a part of the High adventure team. He was the first to receive the Kirk Patrick Harris Scholarship for Native American Students. Dan enjoyed photography, archery, and art. He was a proud member of the YDSP Tribal Council and was handpicked by President George H.W. Bush to empower Native American Education. He helped to setup Native American Education in Alaska and the Iroquois Nation. Dan became a realtor and entrepreneur, some of his businesses included D & SA Properties and Kapio Enterprises. Dan is survived by his loving wife; Spetcie Archuleta and his parents; Gonzalo Castillo, Jr. and Frances Archuleta-Castillo, brothers; Martin Castillo (Anna), Gonzalo Castillo, III , Sister; Virginia Castillo Visitation: 4-6 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home-Americas. A Vigil will be at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church (Mission) Wednesday. A Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.Interment: Mount Carmel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Martin Castillo, Gonzalo Castillo III, Rafael Gomez Jr., David Gomez, Diego Morales, Javier Loera, Rudy Cruz, Angel Granio, Enrique Burrunda, Pete Baca, Honorary Pallbearers will be Edmundo and Neto Archuleta.
