Edmundo Soltero, 87, of El Paso, TX passed away, Friday, June 8, 2018 in a caring and loving community at Sunny’s Living Foster Care home in Canutillo, TX . A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday, June 14 at Sunset Funeral Home, 480 N. Resler, El Paso, Texas, 79912. Victor Franco, a Jehovah’s Witness congregation elder will be officiating.
Edmundo was born September 9, 1930 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Florencio and Tomasa Soltero with siblings Florencio Jr., Ernesto, Jesus, Maria, and Raquel. On May 10, 1959, he married Lydia Zamarron. He moved to the United States at the age of 27 and started his business. Edmundo was a self-taught contractor who mastered the art as an Oriental rug artisan. He was a strong, determined individual, and who lived by a high standard of values and held all to the same. During his free time, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was very loved by his family and friends. He instilled a joie de vivre (joy of life) in all of his family and an ability to bounce back from the vicissitudes of life.
When in company of others, he had a developed sense of humor and kept abreast of world events and loved to tell and play jokes and engage others to play billiards, dominos and card games. Edmundo loved a challenge and was hard to beat at any game.
Edmundo is survived by his wife,three children and seven grandchildren, Edmundo Soltero and his partner Armida Martinez, Daniel Soltero and his partner Serena McClure and Sonia Soltero Luhan and her husband David Luhan. His seven grandchildren are Adrienne, Anali, David, Katerina, Lucia,Tatiana and Camelina.
