Edward V. Servider, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 3, 2018. He is survived by his daughter Ilse and son John, his two grandchildren Johnny and Lori-Ann, and his two great grandchildren Nikolas and Maddalena. Eddie enlisted in the US Army during WWII but was honorably discharged after 10 months when his mother informed his command that he was still a minor. He re-enlisted when he became eligible and served in Korea and was later deployed for 15 months to Vietnam. Eddie retired as a Command Sergeant Major (CSM) after 23 years of service. After his retirement he joined the El Paso Sheriff Department as a Deputy and after 14 years retired as a Lieutenant. Eddie was an active member of the American Legion Law Enforcement Post 74 acting as Sergeant at Arms. He was also a member of the DAV, the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and the Vietnam American Association.
Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 9:00pm on Monday, February 12, 2018 with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 7:00pm at Sunset Funeral Homes- East. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30am on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at St. Michael’s Chapel #2, Fort Bliss. Committal Service will follow at 10:30am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
