In loving memory, we remember Emily Moreno Piner who passed away on December 6th 2014. Born on January 7, 1942 in Zacatecas, Mexico, she was raised in Kansas and after high school she left to serve her country, proudly serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. While in the Army she met the love of her life David Piner.
Following her honorable discharge she moved to San Diego, California to raise her two sons. Continuing a calling of selfless service, she started a lifelong career with the County of San Diego.
In retirement, she moved to El Paso, Texas to care for her ailing mother. With compassion in her heart, her greatest joy in life was helping others. She tirelessly volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul charities and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She is survived by her two sons and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Holy Rosary at 7:00pm on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass with be officiated by Father Ben Flores at 12:00 noon on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
