Ernst Edward Roberts

Ernst Edward Roberts II completed life’s cycle on Thursday, March 5, 2015. His life was full in every respect to include being a son, husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. Son-Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on March 26, 1951 to Ernst Edward Roberts and Donna Clare Davis. He was a child full of grace. Husband-Married Laurel Mary Anderson in El Paso December 30, 1973. It was a blessed union and a magical love affair. Father-August 1, 1983 they celebrated the birth of their first son, Evan Edward Roberts. He was fair of face and was the joy of his life. On August 2, 1989 they were blessed with their second son. He was handsome, cheerful, and harmonious. Named Alan Andrew Roberts by his brother. Father-In-Law-On December 29, 2010 he was blessed with the marriage of Evan to our beautiful and talented Shannon Dobelbower. Grandfather-On December 18, 2012 Ernie’s life was changed by the newborn fingers of Miss Ellery Elaine Roberts who, upon first glance, wrapped her fingers around his index and all was right with the world. He was in LOVE! On New Year’s Day 2015 his heart continued to sing with the birth of his new grandson Owen Emerson Roberts. Among the many joys realized in his 63 years were the TAMU graduations of his two sons and Sara Birdsong, Alan’s girlfriend, Evan and Shannon’s graduations from UTHSCSA Dental School, Alan’s acceptance to graduate school for an International MBA. And the list goes on... He was sooo proud of his family and could hardly wait to see what great things the future held for them. Ernie was also very proud of his El Paso Community College colleagues and friends, the future Fort Bliss campus, his 40 years of service to the College and the community. He served as Interim EPCC President from September 2011-July 2012. In October of 2013 he was inducted into the El Paso Business Hall of Fame. Dedicated to his school and current position as Vice President of Administration and Financial Operations, he worked up through the Wednesday Board Meeting one week before his death. Dedication, loyalty, unquestionable integrity, wisdom, and visionary are just some of the adjectives that describe his life. The family would like to thank all of his wonderful medical team both here in El Paso and at MD Anderson. He is survived by his wife Laurel, of 40 years, sons Evan and Alan, daughter-in-law Shannon, grandchildren Ellery and Owen, sister Carol Gaydac and family, and mother Donna Davis Roberts. He was preceded in death by B.G. Ernst Edward Roberts. In lieu of flowers, a dedicated EPCC scholarship is being established in his name. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Vigil at 7:00pm on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00am on Monday, March 16, 2015 at St. Raphael Catholic Church followed by a reception at the Church Rectory. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
