Esther Flores Tafoya

Esther Flores Tafoya, 96, was born April 30, 1917 in Hanover, NM to Epigmenio Flores and Susie Vigil Flores. Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother found her rest with Our Lord on Sunday, January 5, 2014. The oldest daughter in the family, she helped raise her eight siblings, and was the one who made the special meals for them during the holidays. She loved them all as she would later love her own children. She was very thoughtful and hard working, made her living as a cook, and at one time she owned The Blue Moon Café in Bayard, NM. She loved music, especially hymns. She married Willie Tafoya and they had three children, William "Billy" Tafoya (Sofia), Natalia "Nettie" Alvarez (Jose) and Enrique "Henry" Tafoya (Martha). She is survived by her children, 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren, her brother Arthur Flores, her sister, Rebecca Garcia and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home-East 750 N. Carolina, El Paso, Texas, Friday, January 10, 2014 with visitation at 10:30 am, services at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at 1 pm at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery, 4900 McNutt, Santa Teresa, NM. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home East.
