Francisca S. Mendoza

Our beloved Francisca S. Mendoza (93) went to her eternal rest on Saturday, February 11, 2012. She is preceded in death by her husband Ernesto V. Mendoza and daughter, Rosa Delia Valenzuela. She is survived by her sister, Esperanza S. Najera, her daughters, Lydia M. Tarango (Alfonso), Irma McKinney, Lucia Meglio (Franco), Martha Ontiveros, Susanna Urquidi (Jesus) and her sons Ernesto Mendoza Jr. (Carmen), Ismael Mendoza (Tracey) and Arturo Mendoza. She was a loving and wonderful grandmother to 34 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren. She was also involved in the lives of many nieces and nephews. Along with raising her family, “Grandma Kika”, as she was known to all of us, opened her home for over thirty-five years to more that fifty foster children, both in El Paso and California. She was recently recognized as the oldest living alumnus of Zavala Elementary School. Grandma Kika loved life and lived it to the fullest, traveling with her family and always being there for them in every way. She was an inspiration to us all and will be dearly missed. Before her passing Grandma Kika wanted to express her gratitude to Dr. Valilis for his care and compassion. ”Thank you” to our Lord for blessing us with such a wonderful woman. We’ll miss you “Granma Kika”. Visitation will be from 4-9 pm with a vigil at 7 pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home-East located at 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be at 10 am Thursday, February 16, 20102 at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church-Dolan Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery (Alameda). Pallbearers will be her Grandsons and Honorary Pallbearers will be her sons. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
