Gary M. Lackey, Sr., 52, was born November 27, 1961 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He went to heaven on Friday, April 18, 2014 in El Paso, Texas. He came from Alamosa, Colorado and worked in Buena Vista as a police officer for eleven years. He then moved to Hagerman, New Mexico and went to work at the Roswell Correctional Center as a Classifications Officer. Mr. Lackey had recently worked for Children Youth and Families as a Social Worker and was promoted to Senior Investigator for CYFD in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Gary was married to Subrena Lackey in Artesia on June 23, 2007. He attended the Midway Family Church for three years and just recently, after he moved to Artesia, was attending Harvest Fellowship Church. Survivors include his wife, Subrena Lackey; his sons: Gary Morgan Lackey, Jr., Ryan Lackey, Joe Cordero, John Cordero, Cody Lackey, Benton Davis, and Chance Lackey; daughters: Candice Lackey, Tylynn Stewart, Valerie Steffens; and 10 grandchildren. A Memorial Service, led by Pastor Danny Sons, will be held at the Midway Family Church Friday at 11:00am at 63 Yakima Rd. Dexter, New Mexico 88202-8067; Artesia, New Mexico.
