George M. Holloway

George Michael Holloway born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 10, 1947 passed away on July 20, 2016 (69). He attended Bel Air High School in El Paso graduating from Kaimuki High School in Honolulu. George joined the U.S. Navy after two years college. Petty Officer Third Class ElectronicsTechnician George served on the USS Greenfish 351, a diesel submarine, for 4 years. George continued his electronic career at Mountain Bell Telephone and later Southwestern Bell Telephone retiring after 25 years. His interests in electronics and photography were used as a member of the Southwest International Personal Computer Club (SWIPCC) for ten years where he served as president, vice president, webmaster and newsletter editor. While in SWIPCC he won several local and regional photography awards. He had a passion for doing counted cross stitch needlework to show the ladies that a man could do needlework and win competitions. George is survived by wife Mamie Fay of 47 years, sister, Susan A. Hunter (David), nephew Matthew Hunter (Megan) and nephew, Daniel Hunter (Bethanne). Visitation from 10:00am-12:00pm with Funeral Service at 12:00pm, Friday, July 29, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home-East. Ft. Bliss National Cemetery Inurnment at 2:00p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Center for Compassionate Care West – Hospice El Paso in memory of George.
