Gilberto (Gil) Monzon, 83, was called by Our Heavenly Father on Saturday, 12/7/13. Born in Erie, Colorado, Gil was a lifelong resident of El Paso. He is preceded in death by parents, Robertina and Salvador Monzon and brother, Cayetano. He is survived by his wife, Elena, “his only love,” Daughters, Teresa, Laura, and Julie (Douglas); Sisters, Carolina Becerra (Jose), Raquel Monzon, and Socorro Gallardo (Anastacio); Brother, Ricardo; Granddaughters, Julie, Sarah, Jessica, and Hailey; and loving nieces and nephews.
A congenial man, Gil greeted everyone with his beautiful smile and will be fondly remembered by his signature salutation, “Howwdy Doody!” He had strength and character, never having complained throughout his multiple illnesses. He was a humble man, who taught us so much! Rejoice! Gil is with God, our Savior!
Nephews will serve as Pallbearers. We are grateful to staff at Del Sol, Sierra Medical, Vista Hills and CIMA Hospice for their care during Gil’s journey. Our heartfelt gratitude to Elmer, Fred, Joe, and Nena for their loving care and support to Gil and family.
