Guadalupe Esparza

December 2, 1925 — June 10, 2014

Guadalupe Esparza Jr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away to his Maker, June 10, 2014. Mr. Esparza was born December 2, 1925, the son of Jose Guadalupe and Genoveva Esparza. He graduated from "La Bowie High School" in 1945. Guadalupe and his wife were loyal members of the Bowie Golden Bears Social Club. He served in World War II, worked with the railroad, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. While serving in WWII he was awarded a purple heart. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Maria Elena Esparza and is survived by his children: Ricardo A. Esparza, Ruben and his wife Edie Esparza, Maria Elena Esparza Acosta, Patsy Esparza, her life partner Geneva Jaramillo, Leticia Esparza Villalobos; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 4:00-9:00 p.m., with a Vigil to begin at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. A Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. The entire family expresses a sincere and special thanks to Choice Home Health and Hospice of Texas and all of their associates for their constant loving care guidance and compassion.
