Hilda Medina Shover, 75, passed away on December 31, 2017.
Hilda was born in Santa Barbara, Chihuahua, Mexico on February 3, 1942. She
came to the U.S. as a teenager and attended El Paso Community College,
teaching herself English.
Hilda took on many roles in her life. She worked hard early on to become an
independent business woman, but everything changed when her husband suffered
a severe stroke shortly after the birth of their son and she put everything
aside to become full-time caretaker for both. She cared for her husband for
over 30 years. She was also an accomplished seamstress, even sewing the
wedding dress and all bridesmaid dresses for several weddings. She also
enjoyed cooking with too many famous dishes to name.
Hilda was preceded in death by parents Leopoldo Medina and Barbara Merrick,
three brothers Roberto, Angel and Harvey Rios, and her husband Dale E.
Shover. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ami and Robin Gray,
her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Heather Shover, her four
grandchildren, Christopher and Candace Gray, and Dylan and Elena Shover, her
brother Victor Rios, sisters Diana Lozano and Rachel Reichert and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11:00am to12:00pm, Monday, January 08, 2018 with a Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 noon, at Sunset Funeral Home -Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Committal Service will follow at 1:00pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, where she will join her husband.
