Hope Ballard "Urbanczyk"

Hope S. Ballard, 74, of Shelbyville, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Franciscan St. Francis Health, Indianapolis IN. with her family at her bedside. Born March 12, 1943 in El Paso, TX, she was the daughter of Angel Sambrano and Maria Del Socorro (Rodriguez) Sambrano. Hope married Michael Ballard on July 7, 1995 and he survives. Hope is survived by her children, Maria S. Urbanczyk, Anthony E. (wife, Kim) Urbanczyk, Henry A. (fiancée, Sherri) Urbanczyk, sisters, Nena, Virgie, and Sandy, brothers, Angel, Sam, George, Val, Oscar, and Chava, 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Joe, and 1st husband, Henry Anthony Urbanczyk, and he passed way too young. Hope was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She loved cooking, singing, dancing, painting and playing bingo. She was very active in the Hispanic community. Hope was a volunteer at the free clinic and worked as an interpreter at Major Hospital. Prior to that she was an over the road Semi Truck Driver, that she didn't go to school for until she was in her 50's. She was a very brave lady. She was the first one to have a Mexican grocery store and Taqueria in Shelbyville. Hope loved spending time with her family. Her granddaughter, Sarah, loved watching "old,old" movies and singing the oldies with her grandmother. Her grandson, Michael, loved listening to her often told old stories. She was graced to have many other grandchildren spread out through the states. Unfortunately she didn't get to spend as much time with them or to even get to know some of them. She will be missed very much by her family and friends. She left us way too soon. A Memorial Service will be from noon to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home-Americas with a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m.
