Joanne Stowe

Joanne Bankhead Stowe, 80, of El Paso, TX, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. She was born in Columbia S.C. on March 27, 1933 the daughter of David Marion and Jessie Lee Jennings Bankhead. She graduated from the old Columbia High School in 1951. Joanne and Newton A. Stowe were married in 1954 and were blessed with three children: Michael, Richard, and Laura. They enjoyed lots of adventures in the many different places they lived across the U.S. and overseas. Joanne was a sweet, loving, Southern lady who enjoyed researching family history and being with her grandkids. She never knew a stranger because they quickly became friends. Joanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband Newton A. Stowe, two devoted sons Michael Stowe and Richard Stowe, and dear brother David Jennings and Judy Bankhead. Survivors include daughter Laura Stowe Schmidt (Brian) of El Paso; sister Marcia and Eddy McClain of California; daughters-in-law Susie Stowe of El Paso and Lisa Stowe of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren Tommy Stowe, Charlotte, Sheridan and Grady Schmidt; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
