Joe Ortega

Joe Ortega, 74, raised in Ysleta, Texas was called by the Lord on August 18, 2014. He was born to the late Guadalupe and Lupe Ortega. He served 22 years in the Army with the rank of SFC. Member of the American Legion & San Elizario Veterans Group and San Elizario School Board. Joe worked for the Ysleta Independant District as a Special Ed. Teacher. He is survived by his beloved wife Martha of 45 yrs; his beloved son, Joey Ortega; and his beloved brothers-in-law: Eddie Gonzalez & Jesus Gonzalez; his beloved sisters: Bertha (Eulalio) Hernandez and Esther Montoya; cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children. Visitation will be held from 4:00-9:00 p.m., with a Vigil to begin at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 25, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Homes-East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:15 a.m., Monday, August 25, 2014 at San Elizario Church. Interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
