Laurencio Olivas Licano

November 20, 1935 — August 26, 2017

Laurencio Olivas, Sr., 81, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017. He was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on November 20, 1935, where as a child he attended school. In 1956, 21 years later, he met the love of his life Catalina Serrano. They married the following year on November 30, 1957. They moved to El Paso, Texas in 1959 where he worked at A.P. Poe Dodge Company for several years then worked for Goodyear Rubber Tire Company as Master Auto Mechanic for another 30 years. After retirement from Goodyear he worked with his son for another 14 years at ERO Enterprises Inc., where he was known to all as Mr. O. Laurencio was a life-long member of the Association of Charros “General Ignacio Zaragoza” in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico of which he was also a co-founder. Horses were his passion. Laurencio is preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years Catalina Serrano Olivas, sons Sergio (Patricia), Ernesto (Rosalinda), Abelardo (Patricia), Laurencio Jr. (Susana), daughters Maria de la Luz (Ernest) Meno and Veronica (Joseph) Trujillo. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and sister Maria de Jesus Olivas. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm, Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be at 1:00pm, Friday, September 1, 2017 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 7712 Rosedale. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
