Luz Esther passed peacefully on February 4th, at the age of 95. She was the eldest of five children and grew up in Chihuahua City. There she attended Colegio Palmore and worked for the state government for many years. She married Jesus M. Urueta in 1941 and eventually immigrated to El Paso together with their daughter. She was a wonderful cook and a generous and devoted grandmother. Her flair and quick wit will be remembered by those who knew her well, most especially daughter Ivonne Thompson, siblings Yolanda Abbud and Rene Lozoya, grandsons Ken Thompson and Max Peralta, and her great-grandchildren: Lucette, Marie, Thérèse, Clarissa, Donovan, and Joaquin. Her death was preceded by her beloved husband of 55 years and granddaughter Ivonnette. The family would like to thank her caregivers Ana, Tina, Maxima, and Hospice El Paso and CCC staff for making her last days comfortable. Contributions may be made to the Ivonnette Peralta Memorial Endowment at the UTEP Library.
