Mark Anthony Harps

March 30, 1962 — July 8, 2017

Mark Anthony Harps age 55 passed on to be with our Blessed Lord and Savior on Saturday July 8th 2017. Mark was born in Detroit Michigan on March 30th 1962. Mark graduated from Murry Wright High School in Detroit and went on to receive a track scholarship to Wayne State University. In January of 1982 Mark enlisted in the Army, a career that lasted 12 years, taking him too Germany, Saudi Arabia and ultimately Ft. Bliss Texas. Mark received an Honorable Discharge from the Army in December 1993 and shortly thereafter met Pat in April 1994. They married on August 2002 and spent 25 wonder years together. Mark often commented that Pat was his soul mate, and many family and friends agreed they were a match made in heaven, one complementing the other. Mark was a wonderful, wonderful man, a great husband, father, grandfather (papa), brother, uncle, and friend. Many of his family and friends looked up to him as a role model and for advice. Mark loved his family, friends, being a Truck Driver, his Detroit Tigers, Lions, the NBA, traveling, and having achieved in 2014 his lifelong goal, a Bachelors' Degree in Business Administration from Southwest University. Mark was NEVER, NEVER at a loss for words and wanted to be remembered for rigorous conversation. Some of his favorite mottos were: "I don't judge anyone" (and he didn't), "I don't come to visit your house I come to visit you, if I have nothing to sit on but a milk crate I don't care, you're my friend no matter what." Mark also had STRONG opinions: "I'm not arguing with you, I'm just explaining why I'm RIGHT" and "I can agree to disagree." Mark was preceded in death by his parents Christopher Columbus and Zoria Beatrice Harps, his sister Gayle Harps-Wise, cousin Clyde D. Wayne, good friend Ray Sims and, a number of other family and friends. Mark leaves behind his most treasured gift from God- his loving wife Pat; his two sons Mark Anthony (Stigall) and Johnathan Lamar, two brothers: Andre and Dayle (Chuck); three grandchildren Kennedy, Khyrii and Kalani, as well as a number of dearly loved family members and numerous friends. Mark, my LOVE you were a gift from God, we love you and you will be truly missed by all. The Family would love to extend a deep and sincere thank you for everyone's support, and a special thank you to Duwan Mason.
