Melvin Ray Collier

July 31, 1926 — April 14, 2014

Melvin Ray Collier, 87 went to be with our Lord Monday, April 14, 2014. Ray moved to Dell City in 1948 and devoted his life to promoting, helping, and being a part of Dell Valley. He loved God, his country, and Dell Valley. He was a farmer who served as County Commissioner for 14 years, helped start the Assembly of God Church, was on Soil Conservation Board, School Board, and many other boards and committees. Ray is survived by his wife of 33 years, Juanita (Nita) Collier, daughter, Marla Collier/Austin, son, Ronald Collier/Houston, step-children, Dina Spence/Longview, Jerry Bridges/Longview, Kim Tannery/Lewisville, and Dale Bridges/Arlinton, sisters, Melba Wallace/Dell City, and Lorna Shoefelt/Modesto, CA. 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son Larry Collier and parents, Grady and Pearl Collier. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 am Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Dell Valley Acres Cemetery with military honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
