Merrielee Rackele Hatch was born February 5, 1939 in Price, Utah. Her parents were Rudolph Rackele and Francis Donna Potter. She spent most of her youth in Carbon County, Utah before graduating from Carbon County High School in 1957.
She married William Henry Hatch of Enid, Oklahoma October 31, 1958. They lived in Indiana, Kansas, and Perryton, Texas before settling in El Paso in 1963. They were sealed for all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona Temple in 1966.
Merrielee was a lifelong and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many areas and was president of the Young Women’s and Relief Society.
Merrielee was a homemaker before working as a manager with Tupperware, a receptionist, and Hertz before retiring. As a youth, she worked in television and in a movie theatre.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one granddaughter (Michelle), and several spoiled dogs. She is survived by her three sisters (Kristen Briody, Rudene Rachiele, and Kim Fillmore). Her children Alan of Las Cruces, Greg of Horizon City, Mark (Rebecca) of El Paso, and Stefani Whitmer (Shawn) of Gilbert, Arizona, eleven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Merrielee passed from mortality on May 31, 2015.
Visitation will be held at 6:00pm to 9:00pm on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Service will be at 10:00am on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5510 Hondo Pass. Interment will follow at 12:00pm at Evergreen East Cemetery.
