Olga Tice

November 24, 1924 — June 24, 2014

Olga Tice, 89, reunited with her husband of 60 years, Benjamin W. Tice, Sr. on June 24, 2014. Survived by her sons, Benjamin Jr. (Susan) and Robert Tice; grandchildren: Justin (Jenn) Tice, Kimberly (Samuel) Hill, and Ashley Tice; great-grandchildren Ethan Clark and Jackson Avery Tice, and “pending” twin great-grandchildren, Juelz Benjamin and Zoe Nevaeh Hill, due in October; nephew Clifford Tice of Georgia and niece Karen Gaskill of Florida. Olga was the matriarch of the Tice Clan, having welcomed dozens of friends and family into her home and sharing with them her gourmet cooking skills, most notably her dinner rolls, which no one ever seemed to be able to replicate 100%! We know she would have been thrilled to know that she was going to be a great-grandmother again, but this time of twins. Olga was raised on the Black Sea and always had stories to tell of her youth, both happy and sad, having grown up during World War II and surviving the Nazi Occupation. At the age of 18, she was taken from her native Romania to Austria as a conscripted laborer. Unable to return home at the end of war, she became a displaced person and later met her husband, Ben, a US Army Sergeant. Having been forever separated from her parents, Ben became her rock and foundation for a better life in America. Olga loved her “gypsy” music and was always singing – “those were the days, my friends” – to everyone’s delight. She was a gourmet cook, expert seamstress and bookkeeper. Olga was a woman of many talents, being able to do calculations on an abacus with ease! Most importantly, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always offered a helping hand to her family and friends. Rest easy, Olga – Your “Süss” Ben is waiting for you with open arms! Visitation will be held from 11:00am-11:30am with a Prayer Service at 11:30am on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Interment will follow at 1:00pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Olga’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or a favorite charity. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Please visit our online register book at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
