Patsy Ruth Tipton

Patsy Ruth Spray Tipton, beloved wife of Gene, passed away January 4, 2014. Mother of Nancy Tipton, Jerry Tipton, Nichole Baeza, Shirley Tipton, Cynthia Jeffries, Lisa Tipton, John Tipton, Diane Tipton, Billie Turner, Stephanie Tipton and Michael Tipton. Grandmother to 30, Great-Grandmother to 20 with two on the way, and one great-great grandchild soon to be born. Patsy was born November 10, 1929 and passed to glory on January 4, 2014. Born in Maude, Ok she grew up in Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle. She met her husband of sixty-six years, Gene Tipton, at Baylor Baptist College in Plainview, Texas. They moved to Presidio, TX in 1954 where they lived for many years and began their very large family. The Tipton’s moved to Socorro, TX in 1975 where they and many of their extended family remain. A retired banker, Mrs. Tipton was known for her years of service to her community through the Red Cross, PTA (eleven children!), and her love of teaching others sewing, cooking and crochet. She loved the mountains near her New Mexico vacation home where she will be laid to rest. Visitation will be Tuesday, 5-7 pm, at Sunset Funeral Home at 9521 N. Loop Dr. in El Paso. Memorial service will be held graveside at noon at Timberon Memorial Park, Timberon, NM, on Wednesday, January 8. A luncheon will follow the service in Timberon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable contributions be made in her name to the American Red Cross. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Americas.
