Pedro “Pete” Saldivar, owner of Bicycle World, retired Lieutenant of the El Paso Fire Department, served in the United States Army, of El Paso, Texas, was called upon by our Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 5, 2015. He was 79 and he died with his wife Jane Saldivar at his side.
He was survived by his wife Jane Saldivar, daughters Lorena Rebecca Saldivar and Aimee Saldivar, grandson Nicholas Saldivar and his wife Carson Saldivar, son-in-law William J. Blalock, III and longtime employee and adopted son Julio Quintero and family dog Coco. He will be buried with his late daughter Kristen Saldivar at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in Fort Bliss, Texas.
He was born March 10, 1935 in El Paso, Texas to Victoriano and Soledad Saldivar. He was one of ten siblings - Jesus Saldivar, Victor Saldivar, Consuelo Orozco, Estela Endlich, Olga Lujan and the late Carlos Saldivar, Armando Saldivar, Roberto Saldivar and Sally Bermudez.
He graduated from Bowie High School in 1953 and played football in both high school and the Army; he retired from the El Paso Fire Department in 1981 after 20 years of service and was also a loyal fan of Notre Dame football. He will be most remembered for his gift of gab and his laid back personality and he will be truly missed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 4:00PM to 9:00PM, with the Rosary at 7:00PM at Sunset Funeral Home – Northeast. Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 1:00PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2709 Alabama. Burial will be on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 2:30PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
