Raul E. Chavez, 88, A native of Socorro TX, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010. Mr. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Community and a lifelong resident of Socorro, Texas., devoted Father, Grandfather and provider. Loving husband married for 59 years to Mrs. Dolores L. Chavez, also survived by son; Raul L. Chavez, daughter-in-law; Bette Chavez, brothers; Salvador E. Chavez Sr., and Avelardo E. Chavez Sr. and 3 grandchildren: Paul Michael, Mark Thomas and Jennifer Ann Chavez . He was preceded in death by his father Concepcion Chavez, mother Josefa Chavez, and brothers; Luis, Cheno and Antonio Chavez. The Chavez family would like to thank Dr. Jose Luis Porras and his staff for the fine medical attention provided to him for many years. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-Americas with a Rosary and Vigil at 7:00 p.m. at La Purisima Catholic Church (Socorro Mission) on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at La Purisima Catholic Church (328 S. Nevarez). Pallbearers; Paul Chavez, Mark Chavez, Andres Loya, Danny Herrera Jr., Fabian Padilla Jr., Sonny Vidalez Jr., Avelardo Chavez Sr., and Ralph Loya.. Interment will follow at Socorro Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Americas.
