Samuel Loya Telles

May 19, 1915 — January 4, 2014

Samuel Loya Telles was lifelong resident of the Lower Valley and a descendant of one of the founding families of the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo. Samuel passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the age of 98. He was a WWII combat veteran in Europe, participated in the D Day invasion and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also a lifelong member of the VFW Ysleta Post. Samuel is preceded in death by his loving wife Virginia Grijalva and 2 his children, Viola Ann & Jerry Telles. He is survived by his daughters; Elisabeth Telles and Linda Demeduk of California; son, Samuel Telles Jr, of San Antonio, Texas, 5 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 9, 2014., at Sunset Funeral Home –Americas located at 9521 N. Loop Dr. Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 10, 2014 at Mount Carmel Catholic Church (Old Mission). Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery with Military Honors.
