Santiago H. Ornelas

Santiago Ornelas passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 28, 2013. He lived to be 77 years old and was married for 47 years. He is survived by his wife, Socorro Ornelas; sons, Jimmy and John; daughter in law, Melissa; grandchildren: John, Sarah, Beth, and Jamie, and one great granddaughter. Santiago is also survived by his three siblings: Josefina Schafino, Raymundo Ornelas, and Maria Loera. Santiago enjoyed spending time with his dog, Chico, singing along to his music, whistling, making friends with everyone, and playing bingo with his friends. He liked working on cars and mechanic things on his spare time. Santiago especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and seeing them smile. He worked for the El Paso Independent School District for 28 years. Santiago will be missed by the Ornelas and Buchberg families. The family asks for the prayers of the repose of his soul. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00am on Friday, January 3, 2014 at our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
