Shirley Mae Seymore

Shirley Mae Seymore, 82, October 19, 2017. Shirley was born in Palestine, Texas on September 23, 1935. She was the oldest of four children born to O.J. and Clara Gibson. At an early age, Shirley united with Mt. Moriah Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend G. H. Wilson. She graduated from Henry High School in Elkhart, Texas in 1954 and later married the love of her life, Rudolph Seymore on August 5, 1956. She traveled the world as a military wife with her husband and two sons. In 1975, after leaving Okinawa, Japan she and her husband were stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. They fell in love with El Paso which became their home for the next 42 years. Shirley was a dedicated wife, loving mother, devoted grandmother, and loyal friend. She loved to bowl, crochet, and play pokeno with friends. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She had many great qualities, including her loving and nurturing spirit which allowed her to be a mother to many. She was a long time member of 1st Armored Division Chapel (formally Chapel #4 and Sage Hall) where she was actively involved with the Unique Ladies and Women's Ministries. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ned Gibson. She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Rudolph Seymore; sons Rudolph Jr. and Tony; daughters-in-law, Kimiko and Kimberly; brothers, O.J. and Donald; grandchildren, Jasmine, Austin, Aleiyah, Amari, and Jalyn and many nephews, nieces, cousins and loved ones. Visitation for Shirley will be held at Sunset Funeral Home - 4631 Hondo Pass on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 1st Armored Division Chapel - 11272 Biggs Street on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 9:00 A.M.
