Tamika Shandal Stokes

June 10, 1979 — July 14, 2017

On Friday Night, July 14, 2017, Tamika Shandal Stokes found her resting place as she passed away at Del Sol Medical Center. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and daughter. Born on June 10, 1979 in Bronx, New York to Rodney and Stephanie Henry. Due to her father being in the army Tamika had the privilege of traveling abroad to many new places before coming to El Paso, Texas where she attended Austin High School, but left to give birth to her first born, Tamia Miller Brooks, she then went back and graduated from Hanks High School. Tamika went on to attend College and receive her CNA. She worked as a CNA in El Paso for 6 years before moving to North Carolina where she married her husband, Charles Stokes, and became a step mother to Tameya Artist Stokes, and Rae’Kwon Stokes. Loving and guiding each of her children before welcoming a baby boy, Jaylen Stokes. Tamika’s family was extremely important to her prompting her to move back to El Paso to spend time with her sisters, Danette Henry, Haleema Almazroui, and Jameela Henry, and parents. After moving to El Paso Tamika was diagnose with Multiple Sclerosis and had to stop being a CNA, but it didn’t stop her from being the strong, funny, and encouraging women we all know her as. She constantly kept all of us laughing and smiling and always kept it real. Her children were the center of her world constantly guiding, mentoring, and pushing them to strive for everything and helping them get through their own battles even while fighting her own. She enjoyed talking to friends, watching shows with her kids, and traveling as much as she could. Tamika’s impact on her family and friends will continue to bless those embraced by her love of life including: Parents, Rodney and Stephanie Henry; Husband, Charles stokes; Daughters Tameya Artist Stokes, Tamia Miller Brooks (Kai); Sons.
