Truman Ryan Watkins

November 26, 1924 — July 23, 2014

Truman Watkins, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, July 23rd at the age of 89. He was born in Waldo Arkansas on the 26th of November 1924. He retired after 22 years of service in the US Army. He fought in WWII and the Korean War. During his military service he received several medals including the Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and a Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. After his retirement from the US Army, he retired from the Texas Highway Department. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bonnie Watkins; daughter, Terry and her husband Steve Eveland; daughter, Alice “Jerri” Portugal; grandsons, Justin LeBlanc and Paul Portugal; and 2 great grandchildren. Committal Service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery will Full Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
