Verdell Laverne Benford

Verdell L. Benford, 94, passed this life away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 Verdell was born in Menifee, Arkansas on May 30, 1923 and was the daughter of the late William Beacher Mitchell and Mary Elizabeth Evans. She was married 49 yrs. to the late Theopolis Benford Sr. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and the Phyliss Wheatley organization. She was a faithful servant and second oldest member of Community Baptist for over 60 years where she served in numerous positions. She was retired from El Paso Independent School District after over 30 years of service. Her kind, sweet and servant spirit will be missed. She is survived by 1 brother Henry Mitchell, 2 sisters, Marie Mitchell Turrentine and Elizabeth Mitchell Gloston; Children: Theopolis Benford Jr., Gladys Benford (Daughter-in-law), William Benford, Elizabeth Benford and Donnice Benford; Grandchildren: Marcus Benford, Monique Benford, Shanel Glenn, Whitney Glenn and David Benford: Great Grandchildren: Julian Benford, Maximus Benford. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 9:00 pm Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Special service will be conducted by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and a Prayer Tribute Service will be conducted during this time frame. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, March 14, 2018 Community Baptist Church located at 7801 Phoenix Avenue, El Paso, Texas.
