Barbara Hunter Cardon passed away in her home surrounded by family and loved ones on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at the age of 70. She was born October 29, 1948 in El Paso, Texas to Louis G. and Bobbie Hunter. She was a lifelong resident of El Paso and graduated from Austin High School. She attended BYU and completed her degree in education at UTEP. She spent her 30-year career teaching Fine Arts at Vista Hills Elementary School. She was renowned locally and nationally for the uniqueness of her curriculum, her passion for music and children, and her brightness of spirit. She was Teacher of the Year at Vista Hills in 1994. Her influence touched multiple generations of students. Barbara was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, holding leadership positions within the women's and youth organizations. She continuously brought her vibrancy, charisma, and music to everything she did. She was also an active member of the El Paso Choral Society. Barbara is survived by her four children: Thomas Dean Jr, David Michael, Keith Preston, Elisabeth Ann Feinstein, seven grandchildren, and two siblings, Mary Anne Pedersen and Richard Alan Hunter. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Louis Hunter and Patricia Parrish. Services will be held at 1212 Sumac Dr., on Friday, January 11th at 2 pm. Donations in her honor may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
