Bessye J. Cooper (85) passed away on Sunday November 4, 2018. She was born in Acmar, Alabama on July 24, 1933 to Bessie and Earley Jennings. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Thomas A. Cooper; her parents, her step father Joe Marcus, her sisters Mary Sharper, and Sarah Williams, and her brother Clifford Jennings.
Bessye was a devoted mother and committed Army wife. She continued to raise her children at Fort Bliss while her husband served in two deployments to Korea and two to Vietnam.
She enjoyed going to the casino, working on puzzles, playing cards, and pokeno with her special group. She is survived by her children Glen Howard (Pamela), Vaquero “Kerry” Cooper, Keith Cooper (Tara), Karen Cooper Linen, and Karl Cooper (Rebecca), her niece Mary Ethel Erwin, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00PM-8:00PM Wednesday, November 7, 2018 with a Prayer Service at 7:00PM at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00PM on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Destiny Family Christian Center, 9615 Dyer St. A Committal Service to follow at 2:00PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson.
