Our beloved Bobby P. Duran passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020, after a short battle with cancer at the age of 66. He was a loving husband, dedicated father, devoted grandfather, fun uncle and loyal friend. Bobby was born May 26,1954 in Austin, TX and was raised in El Paso, TX by Antonio and Josephina (Fresquez) Duran. He was a member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church, where he served as a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He proudly served as President and Commissioner for West Texas Youth Athletic Association to promote t-ball and baseball for children. Bobby had a passion for nature, fishing, and camping. Another favorite pastime of his was riding his motorcycle with family and friends through the city, in the mountains and to support local causes in bike runs. Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Antonio, his grandmother, Anita Alvarez, his great-aunt, Domina “Minnie” Solis, and his mother, Josephina. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary, his three children, Diana, Melissa (Rafael Sanchez Sr.), and Clint, and his eight grandchildren, Sarah “Punky” Sanchez (Ricardo Rosales), Bobby Sanchez, Alyssa Sanchez, Mary “Maddy” Duran, Ava Duran, Alison Sanchez, Rafael “Pops” Sanchez Jr., and Morgan Sanchez. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, family and friends will be notified. On behalf of the Duran Family, we would like to thank all the caregivers who treated Bobby with compassion throughout his cancer journey; Mayo Clinic (Scottsdale, Arizona), Dr. Panagiotis Valilis (Texas Oncology Center), Dr. Juan Becerra (Medical Services of the Border), and Envision Hospice.
