Charles W. Chabalko III, 75, passed away Monday December 14, 2020.
Charles was born in Newport News, Virginia on August 1, 1945. He graduated from Irvin High school in El Paso and soon after, attended and graduated from The University of Texas at El Paso.
After graduation, Charles left to serve his country joining the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Junior Grade Officer. Charles was a member of the VP-28 Patrol Squadron and deployed to Naha Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. In 1969, Charles served in the Vietnam War, stationed at Cam Ranh Air Force Base in Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. Charles was Honorably discharged from the Navy in 1971 with the rank of Lieutenant.
In 1971, Charles continued to serve his country by joining the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a Special Agent where he spent 24 years working a variety of criminal and counter intelligence cases in the Springfield, Indianapolis, and Albuquerque FBI field offices. Charles retired from the FBI in 1995.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Charles W. Chabalko II and Mary Elizabeth Chabalko. He leaves behind his son Charles W. Chabalko IV, his grandson Charles W. Chabalko V, and his sisters Patsy Slaughter and Mary Kathryn Beckhelm.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday January 5, 2021 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm with Military honors beginning at 3:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr., El Paso, Texas. On January 6, 2021, Charles will be laid to rest at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
