Charles E. Minich went to be with our Lord on November 9, 2014, after losing his ten year battle with Alzheimer’s. Charles was born to Racheal Hollobaugh and Byron Minich on February 18, 1930 in Hawthorne, Pennsylvania. As a child, Charles grew up in New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Charles joined the Army in 1951, and was stationed many places including Germany, Indonesia, Kentucky, Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas. He served in the Korean War in 1955, as well as the Vietnam War, in 1965 and in 1971. The Army is what brought him to meet his beloved wife Rosa in 1956 in Stuggart, Germany. Charles served in the Army until 1973, when he then retired and started to work in civil service at William Beaumont Hospital in medical supply. He retired from William Beaumont in 1995. After his retirement, Charles volunteered for William Beaumont and the VA for 12 years. Charles was an active participant at Grace Lutheran Church, to which he served as an elder and was on the Board of Trustees. Charles will be remembered by everyone as a kind, humble, compassionate man, who as always willing to give those in need a helping hand. He enjoyed spending time with his family, walking, reading, volunteering, and going to church. He will always be with us, loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. Proceeded in death by parents Racheal and Byron, sister Dorothy, and brother Richard. Survived by his wife Rosa; siblings: William (Pat), Edna (Jack), Ruben (Tye); his four children: Wolfgang, Mildred, Diana (Rick), and Charles Jr. (Dena), 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, nieces, and nephews. The Minich family would like to thank the staff at Ambrosia Guillen Texas State Nursing Home for providing attentive and compassionate care to Charles during his long battle with Alzheimer’s. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00pm on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will follow at 1:00pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
